DRV10983 FG frequency accuracy

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10983

Hi

My customer is using DRV10983.

Could you let me know error of FG frequency against motor rotation, please?

He wants to know how much accuracy for operating motor DRV10983 has.
MCU changes on duty ratio of output PWM by feedback FG frequency.
I think it's important that how much there is an error of FG frequency.

Best regards,
Shimizu

  • Hi Shimizu

DRV10983 will not do the speed close loop control. It means given the same input PWM duty ratio, the speed of the motor is dependent on the motor itself and the load condition. So there is no accuracy spec on the input to output.

The "close loop" of DRV10983 means the commutation close loop not the speed close loop. The FG signal is full based on the motor's real speed.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Wilson

    Thank you for your support.
I understood no error of FG signal against motor rotation.

"MCU changes on duty ratio of output PWM by feedback FG frequency." means operating by user MCU.

I would like to inform about error of rotational accuracy of a motor as following.
What do you think of this idea?

This device is no closed speed loop.
For the reason, error of rotational accuracy of a motor can't define.
As reference, FG signal is no error.
When it's feed back in MCU by FG signal, I think the precision will be something good.

    Thanks
    Shimizu
  • Hi Shimizu,

    Yes. Your understanding is right.
