RTC chip BQ32002/BQ32000 Battery drain current issue

BQ32000 has a known issue when battery is initially attached to RTC, the battery drain current could be as high as 80uA,

it need a power cycle to make the battery drain current back to 1uA.

Does TI fixed this problem ?

I noticed TI has launced a new RTC product BQ32002 ,

does BQ32002 has similiar issues ?

Hi Wilson Zuo,

We are also facing similar battery draining issue in BQ32000 , We cannot follow providing VCC initially because RTC battery will be mounted on our board before powering on.

Please let us know whether BQ32002 is having similar battery draining issue? We will able to replace with BQ32000 hence both are same pinout and package.

Also let me know the availibility of BQ32002 linix drivers.

Aadhil,

Both the BQ32000 and BQ32002 have the same power sequence requirements. We will be updating the BQ32002 datasheet to reflect this.

Is there a possible method in your assembly procedure to apply the Vcc voltage during the battery mounting?
