BQ32000 I2C communication question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ32000

the I2C SDA/SCL trace between BQ32000 and Micro processor  is around 3.3inch long(in one PCB), and the I2C clock frequency is 100khz, does it will cause I2C communication problem ?
Thanks.

  • Hi Tom,

We noticed your question on another post, and will check and get back to you later. Could you give some decription on the application issue you met? What kind of I2C communication issue we found now?

For the I2C communication, I think whether or not the long wire causing problems will depend on the layout and noise condition. You can test the I2C signal just between the I2C pins of BQ32000 and the local GND plane to check the real signals into the device. Normally the I2C line has low impedance and should be fine to go some distance.

    Best regards,
  • we have an BQ32000 issue, it works fine in our test fixture, but the RTC didn't update in our machine(shown in display screen), we have verified the
clock is increment in machine, so we question whether this is an I2C communication issue.
  • the RTC have been working fine in the machine for a while , like couple months, but it now stopped to update in display, but it works fine in our test fixture.
