DRV3201-Q1 EEPROM CRC Error

Hello,

Customer has a device it shows EEPROM CRC Check fail bit is “1”.

Please answer following question from customer.

Q1:

Please let me known the detailed method of EEPROM CRC check.

Q2:

Please advise if EEPROM data can be read out from SPI port.

Please advise the method if possible.

Best Regards.

  • Hi Ushikubo-san,

Our expert has been notified and should reply soon.
  • Ushikubo-san,

The EEPROM CRC check error indicates that the internal parameters programmed in at the factory were somehow corrupted.

Q1. When these parameters are programmed at the factory a CRC8 is calculated and that value is programmed into the EEPROM of the device. On each power up this CRC8 value is checked against the parameter values programmed in the EEPROM. If they do not match, the EEPROM error flag is set.

Q2. No this is not possible.

To help figure out this issue could you provide the following:

    1. All markings on the top of the failing device (specifically looking or the date code).
    2. Please find out if the device was exposed to any harsh conditions (high voltage, ESD, extreme temperatures, etc.)

    Regards,
    Will Toth
  • Hello William-san,

Thank you for your quick reply.

I reported your answer to customer.

Customer will check SPI SDO data using scope if DRV3201 really output the “EEPROM data CRC failed=1”.

    Best Regards.
