I'm working on installing the DRV8880 EVM GUI and am not getting very far.

I've uninstalled and re-installed several times, and end up with the same "Cannot extract package" message in the JS GUI.

I've searched but can't find anyone else with this issue.

Can you provide some feedback? It seems like it could be an issue with the install package

We haven't met this, have you following everything in the User Guide on installing the GUI. www.ti.com/.../slvuai1.pdf
Have you correctly downloaded the runtime file during the intall process? It should be automaticly poped out and downloaded and installed.

Hi Kayita-san,

This is a new GUI Composer installation. I am not aware of any problems.

Can you provide screen captures of the installation process?
What operating system are you using?
Once you provide this information, I can try to duplicate it and contact the people who created the installer.

Hi I'm having problems installing the GUI for the DRV8880EVM. After installation, when I try to open the application I get a message saying "Windows is searching for nw.exe...."

Hi Ash,

Did you experience any problems during the install? Did you see the message "There is no valid GUI Composer Runtime available on your machine", select "Download from web" and Next?

What operating system are you using?

Are you opening the file through the start window?

Can you provide screen captures or log files?

Hi Rick,

I did experience problems during installation. I do see that message and the warning : " Error getting URL software-dl.ti.com/.../gcruntime.properties

I saved the contents of this html file in a txt file and used the "select from file" option.

I am using Windows 7 Professional. I have tried opening the file through the start menu.

Hello,

The installation program might be having issues with proxy or firewall settings. You could try to download/install runtime and application in two different steps. Please try following:

1) Download runtime from http://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/non-esd/gui_composer/runtime/gcruntime-2.0.6-windows-installer.exe The one from the link above will contain an .exe named “gcruntime-2.0.6-windows-installer.exe”.

2) Run the DRV888x GUI installer.

3) Choose appropriate application and runtime locations, but avoid spaces in the runtime path name.

4) If you see the following screen during installation, then select the “Install from file” option, press the browse icon to the far left of this, and located the runtime installer named “gcruntime-2.0.6-windows-installer.exe”. Your screen should look similar to the screen capture below(except actual runtime installer version)

5) Press next and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

Hi Martin,

Thanks for your response. I have tried your suggestion and although the software installs with administrator rights, once I revert back to my user ID (on my work PC) I can't seem to run the GUI anymore. As this is a work PC we only get admin rights for a day to install the software we want. Is there anyway of getting round this?

Hi Ash,
Could you let us know which OS version you are using on your work PC? Also, when installing with Admin rights: Are you installing in your home directory or some other directory?
