drv 8301 Q1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301-Q1

We are using
TI's DRV8301-Q1 IC for driving our Inverter bridge. But Its datasheet states
that we need to give some commands using SPI protocol to make it work.

I am
not able to see about its default settings.

Will it work if we
would not use SPI protocol..?(Are there any default settings by using which we
can utilize it..?)

Datasheet states
that, "SPI Interface provides detailed fault reporting and flexible parameter
settings such as gain options for current shunt amplifiers, slew rate control of
gate driver, etc."

Can we make
DRV8301-Q1 to work without SPI signals.(by providing Input power supply and
respective PWM signals)...?

  • Hi Ram,

The datasheet shows the defaults values for the control registers on page 24. Look for the (1) in the register table.

    The OC_ADJ_SET default is 16.

While possible to run without the SPI, it is generally not recommended. Each design usually requires tuning the control registers for ideal operation. Also the status register feedback is lost.
