Begginer controling a stepper motor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8825, DRV8825EVM, DRV8885, DRV8880

Hello,

I am working in continuous rotation table project where i need to control 2 stepper motors.

My steppers are bipolar wich specs are 1.4A/phase and 0.36 step angle with encoder. My question is what do i need to be able to control this steppers?

Will it be enough with an arduino and a DRV8825 driver to control both may be another driver model?

Thank you beforehand.

  • Hi,

You will need two DRV8825 controllers, one for each motor. At a minimum, The control interface is a STEP/DIR inputs from a microcontroller per motor controller. Also you will need a reference voltage and perhaps an ENABLE pin if you want to disable the motors and save power.

There is a DRV8825EVM available to evaluate this device for you application.

If you are interested in newer devices, the recently released DRV8880 and DRV8885 are alternatives.
