Hi 

DRV8305 is three phase gate driver.

If one of the three phase lines is shorted to GND or PVDD, what behavior of DRV8305 is assumed?

Does the overcurrent protection work if DRV8305 detect overcurrent?

    Hi Na na,

    If you have proper setting to the registers on the over current protection and current limit mode, the device will be able to protect and shut down when there is short issue happened to VM or GND.

    With OC settings, DRV8305 will monitor the VDS of both high side and low side MOSFETs continully. In short conditions, the VDS will reach the limit we set, and shut down the outputs also give the fault report.

    Both register setting and PCB layout will be important to have this function working properly.
