DRV8838 speed control

Question: in 8838 do I control PWM (motor speed) using EN pin or nSLEEP  pin?

The datasheet has EN low for breaking. Does it mean inductive dynamic breaking? Lake a load breaking through FETs? If so I cannot use it for PWM. Please help me with this one.

  • Hi Victoria,

You can use PWM through EN input. But nSLEEP is not designed for PWM control. The device will need settle time recovering from SLEEP state.

EN low will set the output as SLOW decay(Breaking). I think this is fine for most applications. Could you give more details of the concern for your load in SLOW decay mode?

    Best regards,
