LMD 18245 Failures

We have been using the LMD18245 for years now. However, on one of the newer product we have had some excessive amount of failures with these parts. Sometimes these parts have damage but most times they don't. These LMD 18245's drive NEMA 17 Stepper motors.

More details (schematics, layout, etc.) can be provided.

Can you describe in more detail exactly what the failure is and when it occurs?

Once we can fully understand the failure, then yes, schematics will help.

Shailesh,

We have the schematics however need more details in order to understand better.

1) When does failure happen? What exactly is done to create failure

2) When failure happens what goes wrong, high current drawn by IC or outputs not working etc.

The failure is completely random. It typically happens when the machine is still operational.

When the failure happens, the output of one/both of the driver parts goes bad. It does get hot and sometimes there is a visible damage to the part but most times there is nothing visual.
