Haptic Control Console

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2605L, DRV2605LEVM-CT, EK-TM4C123GXL, DRV2605EVM-CT, DRV2624EVM-CT, DRV2625EVM-CT

I am trying to use the DRV2605L on an Arduino Uno, The Arduino is recognized on the Window USB port and I have bidirectional communication between Uno and PC. The problem I have is when I open the Haptic Control Console the no COM port appears in the dropdown box.

Looking forward to using the Console. It should be very helpful once I'm able to connect.

Thanks for your help.

  • Hi, Craig:

which EVM are you using? (DRV2605LEVM-CT? DRV2605L miniEVM?)

if yes, do you have the DRV-USB-COM board?

if you have the COM board and one of our EVM, we can walk through how to use Haptic Control Console for DRV2605L.

    Thanks.

  • Hello Peter,

Thanks for the quick response. I have a DRV2605EVM-CT ( non-L) and DRV2605L break out with pull up resistors as well as Tiva C Launch pad EK-TM4C123GXL and Arduino Uno.
I was unable to locate a DRV-USB COM board on the Ti site.

    Thanks for your assistance.

  • Hi, Craig:

    here is the link:

you will need this board to use Haptic Control Console.

for DRV2605EVM-CT, first put it to external I2C control mode, and then connect the I2C socket to the DRV-USB-COM I2C port.

for DRV2605L break out board, we need to wire out the SDA/SCL/VDD/GND to the DRV-USB-COM board.

  • Is the DRV-USB-COM needed to use the Haptic Control Console with the DRV2624EVM-CT? I don't see this mentioned anywhere in the EVM users' guide.

  • Hello Mark,

The DRV2624EVM-CT  and the DRV2625EVM-CT do not require the USBCOM device to communicate with the Haptics Control Console.

  • Javier,

The Haptics Control Console recognizes my DRV2624EVM, but when I click Connect, I receive the popup, "Please set the board to GUI mode and connect again!" I can't find a reference to GUI mode in the EVM literature.
  • Mark,

In order to enter GUI mode, after plugging in the micro-usb to the EVM, hold down the (+) for approximately 3 seconds. The LED indicators will blink and then the right half of the LED's will remain on.

We are currently working on a revision of the user's guide which will include how to enter GUI mode, and a few other changes.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I will be more than happy to help!

    Best Regards,

    Javier Palomo
