DRV887x short to ground protection

Hi,

I would like to know if the device is protected for short to ground on all pins, that is a requirement needed for automotive application.

For example in DRV8801-Q1 datasheet we say short to ground protection, but it is not clear if this applies to all pins.

Hi Umberto,

Yes. All the outputs are protected from short to GND and VM. In OCP event, the digelitch time is 1.5us and retry time is 3ms.

Note that the datasheet currently states:

The DRV8870 is fully protected against VM undervoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature events.

Overcurrent Protection (OCP)
If the output current exceeds the OCP threshold IOCP for longer than tOCP, all FETs in the H-bridge are disabled for a duration of tRETRY.

[Figure 13 shows OCP]

But I also see your point about automotive customers wanting to see a statement that all pins can be shorted to ground.
