drv8301 buck converter output

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301

I have a drv8301 and the buck converter components soldered to my board.  I added a 3.9 Ohm resistive load at the 3.3V output.  At 12 V I see 900mA current at the output and 3.214V.  At both 24V and 48V the current at the output drops to 100mA and my output voltages are 19.2mV and 0.5mV respectively.  What is happening and how do I get the full 1.5A the chip is capable of--by seeing appropriate outputs at 24V and 48V?

Thanks

  • Angela,

Are you hitting thermal shutdown of the buck regulator? A high input voltage will occur more internal power losses.

Can you provide scope captures of the output voltage, SH pin, and input voltage for each case? Also can you look at these same signals on startup?

Do you see the nFAULT or nOCTW pin asserting from IC? This may indicate a thermal warning or shutdown.
