DRV8332 Fault status in CBC mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8332

Dear Sir,

If we use CBC mode when OC occurs does it report to Fault pin?

  • During normal operation, CBC is not reported to the FAULT pin. It is expected that the PWM will reset the outputs each cycle.

It is possible during a short to power or ground that the FAULT pin may assert.

Also please note the third paragraph on page 12 of the current datasheet:

It is important to note that if the input to a half bridge is held to a constant value when an over current event occurs in CBC, then the associated half bridge will be in a HI-Z state upon the over current event ending. Cycling IN_X will allow OUT_X to resume normal operation.

  • Dear Sir,Thanks.
Another question, when overtemperature is occurs , will shutdown directly?
  • Please refer to Table 1 of the datasheet.

    Overtemp is two stage.

First the OTW pin will assert and FAULT will not assert. This issues a warning that the device temperature has reached typically 125C. The DRV8332 will continue to operate.

If the temperature continues to increase, both the OTW pin and FAULT will assert and the device will shutdown.
