[ DRV8662 ] PBTL Output with two devices

Hi,

My customer would like to have around 200Vpp with 200nF Cload. In order to achieve this, one idea would be PBTL output stage with two pcs of DRV8662. Can you make sure whether this works and/or any concerns on this?

It's really helpful, if you can share app note/docs that describe this usage.
Or do you have any other ideas?

Thank you for your support in advance.
Regards,
Ken

  • Hello Ken,
Attaching two DRV8662 together at the output could be bad because both of the DRV8662 will have slight mismatches and therefore will get two different regulation points from OUT+a and OUT+b which will lead to some cross conduction between the two devices... However, if you have resistors in series with the load then it should limit this cross conduction as long as the application can handle the extra current. (Also, I have seen other applications work in this configuration)
  • Hi Rodney,

Yes, that the point I'm concerned.
Thus, I suggest to have series resistors on each output OUT+a, OUT-a, OUT+b and OUT-b.
This value would be around 10 to 20ohm range.

I have another customer who use two LM48560 for heavy output load.
This idea above is actually same.

I will ask my customer to try to evaluate this, but let me know if you have any other ideas.
    Thanks,
    Ken
