Using DRV2700 to drive piezoelectric actuator at 500 Hz, 0-150 V

Depending on if you need 150Vp or 150Vpp will determine if it can meet your requirement.

If you need 150Vp:

• You can use the DRV2700EVM-HV500 for your evaluation. It can cover 0-500Vp and has a user interface to control the output. However, it will be at the limit if you are trying to go to 500Hz with a load.

If you need 150Vpp:

• You can use the DRV2700EVM for your evaluation. It can cover up to 200Vpp and has a user interface to control the output. It can meet the 500Hz depending on the load you are trying to drive.

The pin configuration and settings can be found from the EVM user's guides. I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply. After receiving your reply, I tried to figure out what capacitance of piezo that I can drive, but it is somehow difficult for me to find the information in the data sheet.

I would like to use piezo of about 500 nF. Will DRV2700 be able to drive it at ~500 Hz?

The DRV2700 can only support about 300nF at 500Hz. Please see Figure 23 in the datasheet for determining what frequency, capacitance and voltage it can safely operate.

Yes, that will be enough power for the DRV2700EVM. It will actually run off of USB power.
