Does DRV2667 has default tone when power up ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV2667

hi,

I understand DRV2667 has 2kB internal waveform memory, but I am not sure how many tone it can store inside this 2kB. If this 2kB enough to store 16 key tones by default without the need to re-program every time the chip is power up? Main purpose is to let the end user to hear the keypad tone when they press on the instrument that design in with DRV2667.

Rgds,

  • Kpk,

Correct the DRV2667 does have 2kB of RAM, which is separated into 8 pages of 256 bytes (each page). Since it is RAM you will need to reprogram the internal waveform memory each time the device is powered up.

Regarding the 'tones', it really depends on how much memory your waveforms take up. Keep in mind that you will only be able to call out 8 different waveforms, but if you are okay with storing more than one 'tone' per page then you can fit as many 'tones' as you can in 2048 bytes (256 bytes per page).
