DRV10983 motor control algorithm

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10983, INSTASPIN-BLDC

Hi TI Experts,

Our customer is currently using TMS320Fxx (C2000) for motor control.

Now they are planning more another platform using DRV10983.

For the TMS320Fxx, the motor control feature the Instaspin-FOC.

Thus, if using the DRV10983, does the IC has this Instaspic-FOC feature??

I read through some material, there is another algorithm such as Instaspin-BLDC.

1. As i know that DRV10983 can interface with any MSP430 MCU. But can the MCU and DRV perform same as the Instaspin-FOC?

2. The application note below state that the MCU MSP430 can install with Instaspin-BLDC. Is it true??

3.Is this Instaspin-BLDC only works with DRV8xx series?? Can it apply to DRV10983??

3. What is the different between Instaspin-FOC and Instaspin-BLDC?

Please advice.

Thanks,

Br,

  • Hi,

DRV10983 has internal fixed non-MCU based algorithm for a sensorless sine current control. It is independently developed control method other than Instaspin family.

Instaspin_BLDC is a 120 BLDC sensorless control algorithm can be implemented in MSP430 as in the TIDA report.

For different of Instaspin-FOC and Instaspin-BLDC, I think you can get all the detail in ti.com. Basicly they are different level/performance BLDC control method. Also you can also get more info on the Instaspin forum.

    Best regards,
  • Hi Wilson,

    Ok. Noted.
    Thank for the info.

Will get back if has further inquiry.

    Thanks,
