Help me find the suitable motor driver for BLDC servo application

Hi Everyone,

I am looking for a motor driver IC to control a 1A 24 V BLDC motor (control input - Analog/PWM). I have couple of questions;

1. Does TI have any motor driver IC which provides Sinusoidal commutation using Hall sensor signals?

2. If the answer to the above question is "NO", which are the recommended motor driver ICs that provide sinusoidal commutation feature for this specification of motor?

Hi Vivek,

Please look at the DRV8307, DRV8308, and DRV10983. The DRV8307 and DRV8308 require external FETs and can use hall sensors. The DRV10983 has internal FETs and does not use hall sensors.

Are DRV8307 and DRV8308 capable of sinusoidal commutation using the hall sensor signals?

Hi Vivek,

The DRV8308 is capable of sinusoidal commutation using the hall sensor feedback, the DRV8307 is not.

Vivek,

Just to add that the DRV10970 is a fully integrated motor controller (with MOSFETs) that supports sensored sinusoidal BLDC control. It is though designed for <20V applications but just want to make sure you're aware that TI does have this technology.

Looks like DRV10970 and DRV8308 do only velocity control, Is there a motor driver which has similar functionalities of these ICs with Torque and Velocity control available?
