Selection of Motor for Car Automation

Hello,

   My UG/PG/Ph.D Students are doing a project on Car automation.  They want to drive the car by motors only, without IC engine, similar to Reva cars.

  What sort of car? is it DC motors/stepper motor/ Induction Motor
