DRV8301 Kit with F28069 MCU: Can kit do AC to DC?

I am using a DRV8301 Kit with a F28069 MCU. I want to use it for an electric vehicle implementation. The implementation requires an electric vehicle battery to be charged (48V DC battery bank).

Can the DRV8301 kit convert AC power to DC? I have searched on the forum, but I was not able to find a satisfactory answer.

    the answer is probably no, but would like to understand what you are thinking to be certain.

    What AC voltage are you inputting and how do you intend to use it to convert AC to DC?
  • I'm aiming to input 230 V (rms) AC from the network (eventually) and use synchronous rectification to convert this to 48 V DC (electric vehicle battery bank).  

    I want to use the kit's transistors to do the active rectification part of this process.

    If I were to power the F28069 from another source, could this be done? As I understand it, the F28069 gets its power from the DC input.

    I should mention that there will be other components to this circuit and that I won't directly connect the grid to the development kit. Other components include a hefty transformer to scale the AC voltage down before connection to the kit.

    The full name of the kit: DRV8301-HC-EVM-Rev D.

    The DRV8301-HC-EVM-Rev D has a maximum voltage of 60V. As long as you keep the voltage and voltage spikes below 60V, it may be possible.

    One word of caution: Please note section 8.1.1 of the DRV8301 datasheet. As I understand your desire, the SH_X pin may have >8.5V on the pin prior to enabling the DRV8301 through EN_GATE. This kit may not work properly due to this condition.
