DRV8842 Issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8842

Hi Team,

My customer is using DRV8842 and met an issue.

Customer found that when the power supply is turned off, there're chances that out1, out2, VM are shorted together and there's chances that they aren't.

The schematic is attached. It'll be appreciated if you can help me explain it. Thanks.

Regards,

Patrick

  • Hi Patrick,

How it is determined OUT1, OUT2, VM are shorted together?

    Is this permanent or temporary?

If this is temporary, please note the latest datasheet shows a 1MOhm resistor in parallel with the VCP capacitor. This resistor is optional, and is used to remove the voltage from the VCP cap when the device is powered down.

If the resistor is not populated, both high side FETs may turn until the voltage on the VCP is reduced by leakage.
