Hello,

I am looking for a sensorless driver that can drive a 12v to 24v brushless motor to run a fan (can be with external fets, 3A max continues). issue is, we need it to be in SO - package kinds, with protections options (uv and over current protection and more) in minimum cost.

Appreciate if anyone have expirionce witrh this kind of driver ic and can advice for optional model/s list.

    Hi Bar,

    Please take a look at the DRV8307 and DRV8308. Both run in sensorless mode, but requires hall sensors to start.

    The DRV10983 is close to your needs, but is 2A RMS.

    Please advice if DRV10983 can output lest than 24v? for example, if vin= 12v to 14v, and the Required motor output is 15v to 17v, can this driver take out 15v to 17v? if so, how it can be set to do that? with pasives (resistors)? or programed?

    DRV10983 is PWM motor driver and output voltage to the motor can be controlled by PWM width or analog voltage on SPEED voltage or through SPI.

    DRV10983 can takes Vin of 12 to 14V. output voltage is controllable. 

    What you are describign below is not possible.

    if vin= 12v to 14v, and the Required motor output is 15v to 17v, can this driver take out 15v to 17v? if so, how it can be set to do that? with pasives (resistors)? or programed?

    I recommend you to commend 15 to 17V to VCC and control analog voltage on Speed pin to control motor speed.

    Hi Seil,

    1. Well noted and Thank you for your advice, which lead me to the question of how to obtain an analog control for variable speed - with potentiometer (i am not using mcu with this driver only analog), can you please specify which pins are participate in this design as i looked for that in the data sheet?

    2. Besides that, are you familiar with other driver ic with more or less similar properties like this DRV10983 but without internal mosfets, cost less and with SO- package?
