My customer is running into issues evaluating DRV2700EM. Is there a newer version of a data manual, or software/GUI to work with it?

I just received a DRV2700EM and I am having trouble getting it to do what the manual says.

The manual has screenshot of a particular software I can not find. I can only find one piece of software called Piezo Control Software and it doesn’t appear to do anything. I can connect to the device but there are no buttons, just an output window with nothing in it. When I try to make a selection from the top the software crashes.

It turns out the software I am using is the correct software, you just can select from the console window while you are connected to the device. However, it doesn’t appear to be doing anything. I have my scope and a buzzer on it and nothing I do in the app causes it to do anything.

I have just uninstalled and re-installed Piezo Control Console (PCC). When I plug in the EVM, the software recognizes it and displays "0.TI-Haptics-DRV2700EVM v1.4" in the dropdown menu next to USB. After hitting connect the DRV2700 Console opens and works correctly.
Can you check the jumpers on your EVM to make sure the MSP and DRV part are powered via the USB (jumpers JP10 and JP11)?

When I plug mine in I see "0.TI-Haptics-DRV2700EVM v1.1" I tried updating one of them to the 1.7 firmware found in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\PiezoControlConsole 1.2.9\EVMFirmwareUpdater\Firmware

and it failed. Now I can't use the device at all. I don't have JTAG for an MSP430 so there isn't much I can do.

I have checked the jumpers several times over. The fact I see the device in the drop down menu indicates its powered to me, it just doesn't appear to be talking to the tool.

I have 3 so I'm no longer using the one that failed but I still have 2 "good" ones with what looks like old firmware.

I just updated my firmware to 1.7 and it still seems to work fine. Yes, I would agree with seeing the device in the drop down menu means that it is powered and connected to the computer correctly.
By saying the updating failed, do you mean that the device doesn't connect any more or that the upgrade utility said it failed to update the firmware?

Updating failed as in the update tool said it failed and I can no longer see the device in the dropdown menu.

And I am on v1.1 currently with the other 2 units.

I have contacted our software engineer about this issue.
I have tried using the software on 2 other computers, and it seems to update the firmware and work correctly.

Try restarting the EVM Firmware Updater program. This fixed it for me.
