Disable operate a stepper motor by DRV8880

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8880

Hi Motor driver support team,

I operate a stepper motor by DRV8880.

However suddenly the motor stopped.

I observed signals with/without stepper motor after that.

   STEP(YEW) : DSP -> DRV8880

   AOUT1/2(GRN/PNK) : DRV8880 -> Stepper Motor

   AOUT1 Current (BLU) : DRV8880 -> Stepper Motor

Then I measured the voltage VP3 and nFALT respectively.

  VP3 : 25mV

  nFALT : 0.85V

I operate the driver at maximum operating current of 2A at 24V, however I confirmed the temperature below 150 degree on the top of

the direr.

I believe the stepper motor is fine because I measured resistance of the motor confirming that the wires are not cut.

If I broke the diver ?

Yohjiro Kawai,

  • Hi Kawai-san,

    Do the outputs re-enable after some time? This could be an indication of overtemperature. A case temperature of 150C indicates the device is close to thermal shutdown.

    If you lower the current does the device operate properly?
