Back emf protection on DRV8821

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8821

We have a door controlled by a motor which in turn is controlled by a DRV8821.  When power is off, it's possible to open the door fairly quickly and develop a back emf.  The H bridge MOSFET body diodes should be clamping this to some extent (depending on what's connected between Vm and ground).  It appears that it's somehow being clamped to 5 V (though this might be through some other device on my board), and we see around 300 mA peak current when this happens.

My questions are 1)  Is there some sort of clamping mechanism withing the DRV8821 to limit the voltage swing caused by back emf and 2)  What is the current rating for the body diodes in the DRV8821?

Thanks
