need another IC instead of LMD18200

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMD18200, DRV8701

Hi all.

I need another IC instead of LMD18200.
My customer would like to know H-bridge motion control over 6A(continuous).
The LMD18200 is a 3A H-Bridge designed for motion control applications.
I think LMD18200 is best device.

So I would like to introduce the discrete system to realize this motion control like a LMD18200.
Please tell me solution.

Best Regards,
Sho

  • Hello Sho,

DRV8840 may be a good option, this device has lower RDS(ON) and better thermal dissipation than LMD18200. For even higher current we have DRV8412/DRV8432.

If the customer is truly trying to drive 6A RMS, then you probably should consider a gate driver like DRV8701. This allows the customer to use very low RDS(ON) external FETs to drive high current with the lowest power loss. We have a nice DRV8701 reference design: TIDA-00620

    Thanks,

    Matt
