DRV2624: Questions of the Maximum Load Current and Current Limit Resistor Design

Part Number: DRV2624

Hi Sirs,

We have two questions need product line's suggestions:

1. What's the maximum load current of the DRV2624? We did not see this specification in the datasheet.
2. If a current limit resistor was placed in series of the LRA. Will it impact close loop performance? If so, what's the maximum resistance we recommended?

Thank you and Best regards,

  • Hi Wayne,

    1. The max current can be found from the recommended min resistance at max voltage. At VDD = 5.5V, the driver can output ~5.1V and the recommended minimum resistance is 8Ohms. So max load current is ~640mA.
    2. We do not recommend using a current limiting resistor. This will affect the driving portion of the closed loop operation.
  • Hi Wayne,

Correction: I should have actually used the "Load impedance threshold for over-current detection" resistance value = 4Ohm. So the max current is actually closer to 1.275A.
