DRV8870: DRV8870 Test circuit not working

Part Number: DRV8870
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8872

Hi, i built a test board using the DRV8870 and the schematic thats in the data sheet. I used a .1uf ceramic cap and a 47uf electrolytic as a bulk cap. I am using my arduino to control the inputs, and 3.3v to power the board and I have 35v at VM .

I cant seem to get my board to work. When i power the inputs i do get output1 to output 35v but i get nothing out on output2.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

  • Hi Greg,

    What are the inputs states?

Have you measured continuity between output2 on the board and output2 at the DRV8872 pin, and output2 and GND to confirm there is no short.
Do you have a second board to test?

Since you are getting 35V on output1, this means the device is powered up and in operational mode.
  • Ok, i did what i should have in the beginning, i looked at the evaluation board schematic and i noticed the circuit does not have the 47uF bulk cap like the test circuit in the data sheet so i removed it from my test board and the 8870 is now working properly.
