Hello all

I am using DRV8825 stepper driver controller with MSP430G2553 microcontroller, as per DRV8825 datasheet suggestion i designed my circuit. In stepper motor running condition driver IC get Heats up above 45 degree, can you help me how to resolve it.

I am running 32 micro stepping logic, ISEN resistor is 0.18 ohm and VREF is 1.85Volt.

Hi Yuva,

The device will heat up as power is dissipated through the FETs. What is the concern?

Hi Rick

How to dissipate heat, can i use heat sink for this. because my total product for part of industrial machinary and here room temperature is above 50 degree celicus in normal condition. I am using this device for Stepper motor application and motor is continous running one.

Hi Yuva,

The thermal pad is intended to connect directly to the PCB and remove heat from the device.

Please look at the DRV8825EVM as an example of connecting the thermal pad to the PCB.
