DRV591: Allowed working temperature

Part Number: DRV591

Hi team,

My customer is always using DRV591. But in their new project, their board temperature will be 90C which exceeds our datasheet TA range. But the calculated junction temperature will be 125C, still lower than the TJ max in datasheet.

Could the chip be used as long as the TJ in the datasheet range? Or it also shouldn't exceed TA range.

Could you confirm?

Thank you!

  • Hi Luke,

Our experts have been notified and should reply soon.
  • Hi Luke,

The over-temperature fault is reported when the junction temperature exceeds 130°C. The systems controller must reduce the power demanded from the DRV591 once the over-temperature flag is set, or else the device switches off when it reaches 190°C. Actually 125°C is quite close to the over-temperature thershold.

Ta=90°C is out of the Absolute Maximum Ratings specification. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability. Is it possible to reduce the temperature on the board?

    Best regards,

    Shawn Zheng
