DRV10983: Overcurrent

Part Number: DRV10983

Having difficulties driving a motor with the DRV10983 evaluation module.

The motor specs are as follows:

Operation Voltage: 24V

Number of Poles: 4

Max Speed: 50,000rpm

Max current: 2A rms

Rph-ct = 0.215ohms

Kt = 14.4mV/Hz

I have been through the tuning guide and data sheet several times. Can run the motor up to 100Hz in open loop, however anything faster than that triggers a fault code 0 and the device status locks.

I have tried disabling the current limit under lock detect, disabling the acceleration current limit, and maxing out the open loop current at 1.6A

Please help!

  • Hi Bradey,

    What happens when you switch to close loop ? You can disable fault 0 lock detection on Advanced setting page by unchecking 'Current limit' lock. Lock 0 is getting triggered because the motor current is higher and it closer to limit of 3A. So disabling acceleration current limit wont help. Can you try to tune 'T control Advance time' on basic setting page.

    Can you share phase current waveforms ?

    Can you check box for double the output PWM frequency on Advanced setting page, since you are trying to operate at high speed higher PWM switching frequency should help.
