DRV2605L: Some devices just don't work

Part Number: DRV2605L

Hi there,

We are having problem with some DRV2605Ls.  After assembly, some DRV2605Ls just don't work, and we measure the I2C signals and realize those DRV2605Ls never send ack back to the host, and power cycling them doesn't help.  Actually, for those failed DRV2605Ls, no matter what we do, they just don't respond, but the boards just work fine when we replace those DRV2605Ls.  Does any have an idea where we should look into?

thank you

regards,

Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Can you please send the failed units back to us? We need to run a failure analysis report on them to determine what may be the problem.
The one issue I can think of is the slew rate of the power supply. Section 8.3.12.4 of the datasheet specifies that if the VDD ramp-up rate is slower than 3.6 kV/s, then the device can fall into an unknown state. In this state, the device won't response to I2C signals.
  • Hi Kelly,

It sounds like we have a problem with the Vdd.  For those "failed" devices, we can still get them to work if we bypass the power circuit and power them directly with a power supply.  We will look into our Vdd and investigate more.  Thank you so much for your help.

    regards,

    Kevin
