DRV8432: Current liming resistor value for DRV8432

Part Number: DRV8432

In the datasheet , Table 2 lists several resistor values for different max current thresholds.

Are those settings for continuous current limit or peak current limit? For example, the current is set to 10.7A with 24K Ohm resistor, is this 10.7A a continuous or peak current?

If the DRV8432 is working in Parallel full bridge mode(M3M2M1=010), with 24K resistor, each channel (A/B or C/D) has 5.35A or 10.7A?

Thank you.

  • Hi Shiwei,

The setting is a peak setting, but can vary by 20% from device to device as noted on page 13 of the datasheet:

Assuming a fixed resistance on the OC_ADJ pin across multiple devices, a 20% device-to-device variation in OC threshold measurements is possible. Therefore, this feature is designed for system protection and not for precise current control.
In parallel mode with OC_ADJ =24k, each output is approximately ~10.7A
