Level shifter to drive the SiC MOSFET

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27531

Hello Team,

Could you please help me out here? I am designing a high voltage Flyback converter where I am looking for a level shifter solution to shift the input PWM of +16V/0V from the analog controller to +20V/-5V in order to drive the SiC MOSFET, as shown in the block “level shifter” below. The SiC MOSFET has the input capacitance of less than 1nF. I am looking for a low cost solution with some discrete BJTs/MOSFETs. The level shifter needs to be fast as I am driving the MOSFET at about 150ns for rise and fall slope and switching frequency ~ 140kHz.

I find sth like this below but it seems not fast enough. Could you please advise? Thank you very much.

Regards,

Xun

  • Hello Xun,

Thank you for you interest in TI, I am an applications engineer and will work to help with your request. I am looking at possible solutions to your inquiry but do not have a suggested solution at this time.
I will look to follow up with a suggestion for the level shift driver solution.

  • Hello Xun and Richard,

Thanks very much for your message.

After reviewing the conversation, we may think out of the box and below is a preliminary block diagram which may help you to achieve the goal. And a SiC driver UCC27531 without Level shifter can work for your purpose. The only considersation is that the controller has a different reference with MOSFET Source pin. Please let us know your thought.
