DRV8825: Stepper Motor runs fast due to fault

Part Number: DRV8825

DRV 8825 is used in half step mode. Stepper motor current is 2.5 A. It works ok for 2-3 hours then stepper motor runs faster as if it is in full step mode.Proper heatsink is provided.

How to sort out this problem?

Hi Vithal,

Can you provide some additional information?
Have the MODE2/MODE1/MODE0 pins changed?
Can you provide the desired speed and the new faster speed? Is the speed twice as fast as desired?
Have you examined the current waveforms for both the desired speed and the new faster speed? Can you provide a scope capture of both?

Dear Rick,

The mode 0,1 & 2 are set in half step mode but after 2-3 hours it runs in full speed mode.

Will give the current waveform.

Thank you. I will await the waveform.

Please measure the speed as best as possible between desired speed and new faster speed. If the current waveform does not show the difference, the speed may provide clues.
