DRV8800: VTRP and SENSE pin Absolute Maximum Ratings

Hello,

Our customer use the DRV8800, have some questions.

The absolute maximum ratings of the SENSE pin voltage is +/-500mV, also the voltage of

VTRP is 500mV.

Does it damage the device using current regulation at start-up a motor?

How about the variation of the VTRP?

Hi Aoyama-san,

No, the device should not be damaged using current regulation at start-up.

The variation of VTRP is ~+/-10% (450 to 550 mV).

There could be a problem using VSENSE for current regulation. Doing so can cause a 1.2ms; please see the post e2e.ti.com/.../540152 for details.

I see the DRV8800 does not have internal PWM clock.

Hi Aoyama-san,

The DRV8880 regulates the current using configurable off time. The on time depends on the time to reach the current level, while the off time is set by the TOFF input.
