DRV11873: Sensor-less Three-phase Brushless DC Motor Controller

Part Number: DRV11873
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8308, DRV8307

Hello

I have a 3-Phase, Sensor-less BLDC Motor powered from 24V supply. The motor can take 7A-10A of current during the acceleration. Steady state current is about 6A. The motor is capable of 20000RPM and I am running it at 10000RPM. I am looking for a stand alone driver that can be controlled preferably with PWM or analog input, speed and direction. I don't mind using external FETs. The closest I found is LV8907UW from ON Semiconductor. However, this controller is recommended for 12V applications. Does TI have a comparable chip rated for 24V?

Thanks,

Robert

  • Hi Robert,

The closest device available is the DRV8308/8307. The DRV8308 is configured through SPI while the DRV8307 is configured through hardward. Both devices can operate up to 32V.

The DRV8308 and DRV8307 require hall sensors for startup.
