DRV8834: DRV8834 with 1/32-Step Microstepping

Part Number: DRV8834

Dear Sir,

I got a Motor with the specification below. I checked DRV8834 with 1/32-Step Microstepping. can it be used to driver this motor?  what is the 1/32-Step Microstepping range we can operation? thanks.

Motor specificaiton:

Step Angle 0. 36 degdegdeg
Total Steps 1000 steps
Pulse rate 60RMP (1000PPS)

  • Hi Lucifer,

Assuming the voltage rating and current rating of the motor is less than the voltage and current rating of the DRV8834, the DRV8834 can be used to drive this motor.

What is the voltage and current rating of the motor?
  • Dear Sir,
the specification mention the rated voltage 5V, no current parameter be descibed.
May I know what is 1/32-Step Microstepping meaning ? I need to set total 1000 steps.thanks.

    Step Angle 0. 36 degdegdeg
    Total Steps 1000 steps
  • Hi Lucifer,

The DRV8834 can probably drive the motor. Please confirm the current is 1.5A or less.

Please refer to Table 4 for more details. 1/32 microstepping creates 32 unique current regulation points when creating the sine wave. This can produce smoother operation in some applications.
