DRV110: Data sheet error

Part Number: DRV110

There has to be an error in this paragraph - or least major clarification needed. Having tons of problems with this part in a particular application, where inconsistent 'correct' motor brake current occurs with different motors (dual motor controller) - could be noise-related - still investigating. But this paragraph (while not my primary concern) is confusing, or wrong:

The 14-pin package has both programming pins, so how is the hold current 1/6 of the peak current if the 14-pin package has a separate hold current programming pin *and* the two currents are independent adjustable?

  • Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your comments. For the 14-pin device, the peak current and the hold current are set independently. If the same resistor value is used to set the peak current and the hold current, the hold current will be 1/6 of the peak current.

Use equations 2 and 3 in the datasheet to choose your resistors based on the hold currents you want.

I've made a note to clarify this in the datasheet for our next update.
