DRV2605LEVM-MD: DRV2605LEVM-MD

Part Number: DRV2605LEVM-MD

I would like to purchase the DRV2605LEVM-MD but I have a few questions before I do.

Would it work with Adafruit's Vibrating Mini motor disk?

https://www.adafruit.com/product/1201?gclid=Cj0KCQiA84rQBRDCARIsAPO8RFyNxm5bgg96zWzVXYTAN4s3aZ4mm_22yaATYaimhETjJOQ3B6wTfSgaAsVtEALw_wcB

I would like to use 4 of those vibrating mini motor disk for my applications and vibrate them Independently? Is that doable with this driver?

Can I communicate with the driver using raspberry Pi 3 or a TI evaluation board?

Thank you

-Abdi

  • Hi Abdi,

I have not tried one of these motors out. The phrase that is concerning to me is that they say the motors are "easy to use and embed." I'm not sure if this means that they are "embedded" with electronics or not. A few other companies sell these types of motors with embedded electronics in order to make controlling them very simple.

If they do not have any embedded electronics, then the DRV2605LEVM-MD will be able to independently control the motors. I recommend using Haptic Control Console to get started.

Depending on what kind of vibrations you are looking for, you may want a LRA instead of an ERM. LRAs start up much faster and are more flexible for systems. There are some available from Jinlong Machinery & Electronics on Digikey. Also there are many other vendors on our webpage.

  • Thanks for getting back to me Kelly!

I will order a couple of these jinlong machinery
    www.digikey.com/.../7732326

Will that work with driver and independently control the motors?
Where can I access the Haptic Control Console to get started?

    Thank you
    -Abdi
  • Hi Abdi,

You can find it here: www.ti.com/.../haptics-console
Yes, you should be able to control them individually with no problem.
