BOOSTXL-DRV8320H: EVM GUI gives strange error for BLDC Control

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8320H
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV832X

I am trying to drive BLDC Motor using Sensored Control. The following error is popping up when I connect my device using the GUI. I have flashed the firmware using CCS, then closed out of CCS and opened up the GUI. It says "connected", but device "not found". TI FAE Lenio Caçula has been helping me, but when he downloaded the software and followed the steps, he got the same error.

  • Hi Mitchel,

Do you have the Launchpad connected to the GUI? There are configuration resistors to identify the BOOSTXL-DRV8320H board. If these are not seen (due to no connection, a misaligned connection between the Launchpad and EVM, or the EVM being left unpowered), you could receive this message.

Also, please be sure to click the Launch button to the right of the DRV8320H. I have mistakenly clicked the Launch button to the left; that is for the DRV8320S.
  • I was careful to select the correct Launch button. As far as the connection issue, I believe there is no misalignment, and in fact I have verified that the LED on the driver board will light up when power is applied to the launchpad, even when the external power supply is off, so I know power is appropriately traveling between boards. What do you mean by "configuration resistors"? How could I check this?
  • Hi Mitchel,

Thank you for confirming the button and connection.

The configuration registers are used to identify the board and the variant of the DRV832x. There is nothing you need to do other than have the board powered when launching the GUI.

We will have to investigate further on our end. Hope to have an answer by the end of the day.
