DRV10983: Startup Fail

Dear sir,

I use drv10983 for controling 12V BLDC.

there is startup failure of motor.After 6 seconds, the motor restart and fail.

What does parameter configuration cause startup failure?

    Hello user4661991,

    It seems you are triggering 1 of the 6 Locks that we track in the DRV10983. This means the DRV10983 is detecting some abnormal behavior, shutting down the device, and restarting some time later.

    Assuming you are using the DRV109xx GUI to communicate via I2C with our device, go to the display tab of the device and click the Manual Refresh button in the Display sectino to see which Lock code is triggering. You can get instruction to install the GUI from the DRV10983 User's Guide.

    If the Lock code is 2: Abnormal Kt or Lock 5: Closed Loop Stuck, then your motor parameters (Motor Phase Resistance and Kt) are probably not programmed correctly into the device. Please refer to this video showing how to measure these parameters. Alteratively, refer to this post how to measure Kt and simiply measure the phase to phase resistance of your motor, divide by to 2 to get the phase resistance.

    If the Lock is not one of these, please give information of the lock you are seeing as well as your settings that are using. I've posted some example generic settings below:

    Thank you for your reply!
    the Kt entered is too big. I have try to decrease the Kt value.
    Now the motor can be successfully started.
    the phase current waveform is also flat.
