DRV10983EVM: the phase to phase of BLDC motor

Part Number: DRV10983EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV10983

Now I want to measure the phase to phase voltage Ep of the motor.

So I use the oscilloscope voltage probe to directly measure the voltage between phase U and phase W.

But, the motor stop right away.

Are there problems with this measurement?

I don't know much about the motor. Can you recommend books of  the BLDC.

  • If the motor is being driven by DRV10983 you can not measure the BEMF of the motor (Ep). This effectively shorts the 2 phases together and will cause the motor to stop.

You can place a probe on one of the phases to ground and then disconnect the power supply. This will allow you to measure the BEMF of a phase (for example Eu).

    Thanks,
