DRV8711: Questions about DRV8711

Part Number: DRV8711

Hello:

Please help to confirm the following questions:

1. In normal operation, when the stepping motor runs to the position, stop the PWM output of MCU, can 8711 lock the motor?Whether the motor shaft can be rotated.

2. Is the working state unable to close the power supply of 24V?

3. Is there a detailed description of the instructions written by spi to 8711?Is there a simple explanation for the workflow?

  • Hi Cris,

    1. In normal operation, when the stepping motor runs to the position, stop the PWM output of MCU, can 8711 lock the motor?Whether the motor shaft can be rotated.

    >> When the PWM is stopped, current is still flowing through the motor. The shaft should not be able to be rotated.

    2. Is the working state unable to close the power supply of 24V?

    >> Can you explain? The DRV8711 can operate with a power supply from 8V to 52V.

    3. Is there a detailed description of the instructions written by spi to 8711?Is there a simple explanation for the workflow?

    >> Can you explain? Do you want to know how to write SPI instructions? Do you want to know what each bit does? Figures 1, 17, and 18 provide information about writing and reading SPI instructions. The register map, plus www.ti.com/.../SLVA637 and www.ti.com/.../SLVA632 provide additional information about bit functions.
