Compiler/BOOSTXL-DRV8301: inverter issue

Part Number: BOOSTXL-DRV8301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRV8301, , LAUNCHXL-F28027F, TMS320F28027, TMS320F28035

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

Hello,

We have tried a small circuit by connecting an arduino with a BootSTXL -DRV8301, we gave the PWM gates SPI communication inputs, yet the motor did not run. Then we gave the same input to the hall sensor gates to run a 3 phase BLDC motor , and the motor runs for 10 seconds due to gate switching and the inverter is fried. Please help us by telling us a way around this problem.

Also if we need to change the micro controller , what should we change it to.

IS TMSF28035 Picollo micro controller sufficient to run this circuit with Bootstxl , please give the code and the procedure.

  • Hello Tejasvin,

    This sounds like a configuration issue between the Arduino and the DRV8301. Have you reviewed the documentation on the BOOSTXL-DRV8301 webpage (linked here)? There are hardware and quick-start guides that help you with the setup. That page also has software the you can use with the LAUNCHXL-F28027F which is the LaunchPad for the TMS320F28027. You may be able to use the TMS320F28035 with this device, but that will depend on your application requirements. If you have questions about using the TMS320F28035, please ask them in a separate post on the C2000 forum.

    I don't understand your comment about the Hall sensor gates. The DRV8301 device does not have Hall inputs, nor does the BoostXL-DRV8301 board. The BoostXL-DRV8301 is designed to be used for sensorless driving applications.
