DRV8301: Impossible to spin a motor with DRV8301 and InstaspinMotion F2806M GUI

Part Number: DRV8301
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LVBLDCMTR, MOTORWARE, LAUNCHXL-F28069M

I have a working 24Volt power supply connected to LVBLDCMTR bought from TI

DRV8301-REVB

LAUNCHPAD-F28069M-XL

Compiled the motorware code in CCS (what a mess this is...) , flashed various projects. Did the annoying thing of changing variables in watch-window as mentioned in Instaspin "lab manual", nothing happened.

Then downloaded the GUI. It claims that REV-B of the inverter board is not supported.

Pressed a button asking it to identify the motor, motor doesn't rotate at all.

If it takes this long to even get a motor running from a "lab project", how will anyone ever develop with the FAST observer ?

  • You could use the InstaSPIN UNIVERSAL GUI to spin the motor since you are using LaunchXL-F28069M + BoostXL-8301 boards. You may find the GUI Quick Start Guide in motorware and follow the steps to spin the motor. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Btw, you may also InstaSPIN projects and labs user's guide the folder of motorWare, and then you could follow the guide to develop your project, to spin the motor without using GUI.
