DRV8803: About Motor Selection, and Microstep Function

Hello,

I'm trying to use DRV8803 Motor Driver

but, I think that I have to check first below functions are possible by DRV8803

1. is it possible that I can controll Bipolar Stepper Motor by DRV 8803?

   Cause, Datasheet only mentions about Unipolar Stepper Motor Drivers on first Page

2. Also, I want to use 1/8 Microstep Controll by DRV8803. is it possible?

3. I heard that Unipolar Stepper Motor cannot rotate reverse way.

   and since the DRV 8803 datasheet only mentions about unipoar stepper Motor,

   is it Still Possible that I can controll my Bipolar Stepper Motor by DRV8803, in both way (forward and reverse) ?

    Hi GwonYoung,

    Yes, you can use DRV8803 to control bipolar stepper motor with 1/8 micro step. For each wings of stepper, one side connect VM, the other side connect DRV8803 output, but only one way.

    I'm sorry I made mistake.

    DRV8803 can't drive bipolar stepper. Because for the bipolar stepper control, the current should be reverse, the DRV8803 current is one way.

    Bipolar stepper driver can control Unipolar stepper, and Unipolar stepper driver can't control bipolar stepper.
