Hi,

In one of our project, we use H-B Driver of Texas Instrument. We draw schematics according to reference design. We drive a dc motor which has characteristics of 1.5mH @1KHz (armature inductance), 324mR (armature resistance), 4.5A (maximum current) at 28V DC voltage.

Below is the schematics of the main circuit.

This is the schamatics of the output side of the circuit.

In some devices, after a certain amount of time, we have encounter with the problem of GOV- signal is absent while GOV+ signal is still working. I investigated PCB and components with X-Ray device but there is no problem with soldering.

We used TVS diodes to protect IC against transient voltage.

    Thank you for providing the schematic. This is very helpful.

    What is your PWM frequency? Do you really need the 1uF bootstrap capacitors?

    If you need the 1uF bootstrap capacitor, the preferred placement for the 5 Ohm resistor is between the GVDD_x pin and the 1uF capacitor near the GVDD_x pin. This limits the inrush current to the internal bootstrap circuitry.

    The 5Ohm resistors currently placed between +12V_HB and the 1uF capacitors on GVDD_x help limit the inrush to the local decoupling capacitor, but not to the internal bootstrap circuitry.
