DRV8601: GND Thermal Pad - DRV8601 Haptic Driver

I ideally would like to GND the themal pad under this IC as I need it to be able to link a GND plane, in the datasheet it states that it has to be connected to the PCB (of course) but it does not state if it can / should also be connected to GND. My assumption is that it can be optionaly connected to GND but it would be great if some could confirm? Thanks Chris

    Hi Chris,

    Welcome to e2e.
    The pad under DRV8601 can be connected to GND. This is a thermal pad, so it is recommended to connect it to GND plane as it would be of a relatively big area and thus a good heat sink.
